After landing in Dalaman, during the adventurous three-hour car journey to reach the Datça Peninsula, one of the world’s most unique spots, it’s impossible not to ponder the immense difficulties faced in building Knidos, the city of terraces and one of the ancient world’s significant centers, in this mountainous terrain.
Knidos, the trade center founded by the Dorians and famous for its wines, remained a stop for many travelers and researchers until the early 20th century. Today’s Datça, though not as glorious as its ancient past, is a distinctive, peaceful town, chosen by artists and writers as their home. It boasts a unique architectural style.
So does Palaia, the design hotel that opened its doors at the beginning of summer on the coastal strip known as ‘Sevgi Yolu’ (Love Road). Behind the project are İsmet Tekinalp, Chairman of the Board of Tadım Kuruyemişleri, a leading name in the food industry, and Fatoş Tekinalp. Initially, they embarked on this journey with the dream of a home for themselves and close friends, but later decided it would be more appropriate to share this special space as a high-quality tourism facility.
